About us

Randolph-Decker Public Library is located in Clyde, Kansas at 107 S. Green Street.   A member of Central Kansas Library System  (CKLS), it is part of a statewide consortium of libraries linked together with other Kansas Library Systems to create a statewide wealth of lending libraries.  There are also connections with other states, such as Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, etc.  A courier system picks up and delivers materials daily in some instances, but on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for Randolph-Decker.  CKLS offices are headquartered in Great Bend, Kansas, and include a rotating book van which delivers books to all participating libraries on a regular basis.

We offer a wide variety of services at Randolph-Decker Public Library (RDPL).  Books of most genres can be borrowed. DVDs, and VCR tapes are available to patrons,  and the library features an XBOX 360 gaming system at the library, with several games. There are periodicals available for check-out.  There are examples of local artwork, and some awards on display. There are several computers available for patron usage.

Our library is available for public or private meetings, and social gatherings upon approval of the Library Board and Librarian.  We have genealogical materials which can be researched within the library.

We sponsor activities and programs throughout the year.  This past summer, we sponsored a Solar Eclipse Party and provided the 3D solar eclipse glasses, and refreshments.  We have a recurring Born to Read program to honor new babies born in the community or with ties to the community.  We sponsor the Summer Reading Program every summer for our pre-school and elementary age patrons, which is a month long program with activities and incentives to keep the children reading throughout the summer.

During the school term, we have our weekly Story Time program, where the Children’s Librarian or a volunteer reads to children ranging from newborn to age five a number of books on a chosen topic, sing songs, play games, and engage in craft and art activities every Friday morning.  This year,  USD #224 (Clifton-Clyde) is assisting with Story Time with their Little Eagle Story Hour, led by Jackie Kindel.  The children really enjoy her activities.  The school district does this in cooperation with the local public libraries to prepare pre-school children for reading readiness.

The library is funded in part by the City of Clyde, the State of Kansas, and by donations from the community.  Your gifts are always welcome.  Thank you.

Stop by and check us out.  We look forward to seeing and visiting with you.
